My name is Allison Watts. I was born in Washington DC. My father was from Washington PA and my mother from Washington NC. Not many people can say something like this besides 2 of my sisters. I grew up in NJ, went to college at Virginia Tech in 1982 earning a dual major in Animal Science and Dairy Science. After working a short time in the dairy industry I became an Air Traffic Controller. I married a year out of college and was blessed with 3 kids who I consider my love, my pride, and my joy. The titles move between my kids and they test my patience ( the boys! ) many times but I could never imagine my life without them. After almost 20 years my marriage ended in 2003. On Jan 1st, 2015, I retired from Air Traffic after over 27 years of service. I loved my job but it was time for a change. My new path is art.
I have always been very interested and talented in arts and crafts. I become engrossed in something and build on it over and over again. Each time I want to take it one step further. I try to find ways to use materials in out of the box ways. Or come up with designs that people fall in love with. Some arts and crafts I learn and don't pursue very long. Others I stick with and excel at. That being stained glass. I love taking something like glass and creating beauty. I have also started to dabble in metal and am looking forward to combining those two mediums.
Besides my art and kids I have 3 horses and 3 dogs. My Doberman, Sable, recently won her title in Advanced Rally. I love training her and surviving competitions. Sometimes that takes a huge sense of humor. Other hobbies include cooking, reading, photography, home repair, and volunteering.
